Chartwell

The former home of Sir Winston Churchill is now owned by the National Trust. If you can avoid the crowds on the weekend, it is a great place to spend the day: the house with its beautiful dining room and its terrace overlooking the Weald, the studio with Churchill's oil paintings on the walls, the garden with its croquet lawn.
